Matthew’s Voices: Special Learning Hour and Pitch-In Breakfast

Resurrection is hosting special guests from Matthew’s Voices for a very special Learning Hour event on Sunday, Nov. 24 in Resurrection Hall. We will learn about this amazing music ministry that engages with people living on the streets of Indianapolis through the restorative power of song, enjoy breakfast with our guests, and listen to the choir perform a few uplifting pieces.

If you would like to contribute breakfast items or help with set-up/clean-up, please sign up online, complete the yellow Connect Card in the Sunday bulletin, or contact Julie Jessee.  All breakfast items should be placed in the parish kitchen by 8:45 a.m.

About Matthew’s Voices

The name “Matthew’s Voices” is inspired by the Gospel of St. Matthew 25:42-45 (New International Version). It reads: “For I was hungry and you gave me nothing to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me nothing to drink, I was a stranger and you did not invite me in, I needed clothes and you did not clothe me, I was sick and in prison and you did not look after me. They also will answer, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or needing clothes or sick or in prison, and did not help you?’ He will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me.’”

Matthew’s Voices offers access to, and addresses the need for the arts in populations in our city that often go untouched, unloved, and underserved. Providing nourishment to our guests is more important than a typical church pitch-in meal since many of our guests are without homes and living on the streets of Indianapolis, not always knowing where their next meal will come from. Attending this event is more than learning about an outreach ministry, it’s about offering fellowship and support to the most marginalized members of our community.
