Serve Our Neighbors by Writing to Indiana Inmates

Are you looking for a way to serve from home, on your own time? Register to write to Indiana inmates as part of the Inmate Letter Writing Program through Unite Indy. After Resurrection’s Lenten book discussion of Just Mercy, some participants chose to be part of the Inmate Letter Writing Program.

How it works

Volunteers are assigned a person currently incarcerated in an Indiana facility who has asked to receive letters. Shortly after registering to be a volunteer letter writer, you will receive an email with detailed instructions and suggestions for letter writing, as well as a scanned copy of a letter from the person you get to correspond with.

Resurrection’s P.O. Box

Unite Indy states in their instructions that you may use your home or work address when sending letters. However, some people choose to use a P.O. Box. Resurrection now has a P.O. Box available to anyone interested in participating in this letter-writing program.

Get started

Register as an Inmate Correspondent on Unite Indy’s website. Please notify Julie Jessee if you plan to use Resurrection’s P.O. Box.
