Weekender Backpack Ministry update for Resurrection Lutheran Church in Indianapolis

Weekender Backpack Ministry Update

We’re excited to share that the first semester of the 2025-2026 school year has been a tremendous success for Weekender. Thanks to your support, we packed and provided nearly 4,000 sacks for local students in need.

In September, we identified an increased need at Northeast Elementary in Greenwood. Their program expanded, and with your help, we were able to quickly respond and provide additional support for their students. Our commitment continues as we stay in contact and offer ongoing assistance this semester.

We also discovered a gap in similar programs at Perry Meridian 6th Grade Academy. In November, we coordinated with school administrators to begin serving their students. As a result, Perry Meridan students are now supported by Weekender or a similar program from kindergarten through 8th Grade.

During the Fall and Winter Breaks, we provided nearly 600 jars of peanut butter and almost 400 additional sacks to ensure students had enough food for both weeks of break, including extra items for this extended time.

Thank you for making these achievements possible. Your hands, generosity, and dedication continue to make a real difference in the lives of local students.
